THE PAHR-TAY IS ON!

ST. THOMAS BACCHANAL NUMBAH 15!
Hello Bacchanal Members:

This is Geraldine, one of your fellow Bacchanal members, owner of Global Tours and Travel in
Melbourne, Florida, who was asked to take on next year's event in one of the properties in our area. At the end of the week end in Daytona in May, I was also asked to look into the possibility of a week end cruise off the East Coast in an effort to boost attendance as our attendance numbers had dwindled quite a bit despite Merrilyn's untiring efforts.

Of course that caused quite a stir when the flier and registration form went out to the troops--pro's and con's were coming and going as can be expected. One thing for sure is that it sure got the communication going among us and good or bad, that is always a plus to get everyone's input!

It behooves me to clarify a few points: it is not my wish to impose a cruise as an end-all to the group. Change is good once in a while and although we are always delighted to see each other on a yearly basis, adding a little spice to the environment where we meet could only enhance the experience. Since I live and breathe travel for my living, I quickly saw an opportunity to book a cruise for our group when the rates were at their lowest due to the state of the economy, plus all the extras the cruiseline were willing to give to us to sweeten the pot.

My rationale was simple: let's add on a full day to the week end (all meals and beverages included) giving us 3 nights together. We are allowed to board from noon on Friday and let the party begin at that point. The second day is spent in Nassau for those who wish to disembark and visit followed by an evening of entertainment throughout the ship. Programs just for our Bacchanal group would be organized and lounges reserved just for us at different times during the cruise. The following day is the private island Barbecue party where I would organize a special area just for our group--another big party! The 3rd day at sea would be filled with activities throughout the ship and also with activities planned just for us.

Please bear in mind we are not trying to re-create a Virgin Islands atmosphere in the Bahamas--the idea is to be together and to bond together as a group. The destination is not Nassau--Nassau only happens to be part of the itinerary. The destination is more the ship itself where we can renew friendships, get re-acquainted, meet new friends just like we do on land and simply have fun being together!

No, the bar bill is not included in the total cost and neither has the bar bill ever been included in the past. The nice thing about the ship is that no extra money would be required for the buffet or breakfast as it would be included in the price. The $25 for the regular registration for Bacchanal, i.e. T-shirts etc.would still be required. Additionally, due to the special software we have, we make it easy for anyone to pay a little bit at the time with your monies invested still refundable up to 75 days before departure. Bottom line, we cannot go wrong with an opportunity such as this one and I promise you that once we get over the obstacle of 'change', all will come away with wonderful memories if we go along with the cruise week end.

Yes, I did look into
St. Thomas and taking the group there, but the cost per person with NO meals was at the very least double what I was able to negotiate with the cruiseline. There is no $499 per person for 3 nights with air to St. Thomas and as I said, I live and breathe travel throughout the world, and would be the first to find such a rate if it so existed.

Having said all of the above, I would like all of you to know that this was purely an idea that I was asked to investigate. Not enough takers? Well, no worries, there are lots of properties in Central Florida begging to have a group such as ours descend on their property for a week end. That decision will be taken by the middle of August (deadline was extended yet one more time) if there is simply not enough members to make the cruise viable.

I rest my case......May we hear from you one way or the next to enable us to make our final decision. Whatever the final outcome, let us all look forward to being together next year to have yet another great week end!

With warmest regards,
Geraldine Blanchard

We've had a few questions about the cruise. Some have signed up and others are not sure at the moment.

I'd like to share with you a question that was asked:

"What's with a cruise for the next reunion? Seems a little expensive in this economy.?"

At the last Bacchanal, it was suggested that we look into a cruise as it would be something different. Numbers were way down this year and some members thought we might need a boost of sorts. Since cruise rates are presently down with cruise companies trying everything to lure you onto their ships, this year would be the time to do it before prices go back up.

The week end gives you 3 full nights with ALL meals and beverages, meeting space, etc. etc. as shown on the flier. When you stop and think, our 2-day week ends at the hotel start adding up when you dish out for the registration, food, drinks etc. Furthermore a program like this allows for small payments throughout the year and if something does go wrong and you cannot go, we will notify everyone of the date when you can cancel and get all of your money back.

Having said all this, rest assured that if there is not enough interest, we will go back to our normal hotel stay on the beach in the Melbourne area. We are testing the waters now and will proceed according to the reaction we are getting. So if you are interested to please let me know in the next few days. Your deposit is not at risk, but otherwise we will have to return the cabins to inventory.

If that happens and we do not have enough interest, we will then have to go to Plan B and do it at a hotel--as usual. Therefore, we would be grateful if you could let us know ASAP. Please see
flyer and reservation form attachment.

Thank you for your questions and comments. It is appreciated.
